Kars4Kids is a 501c3 nonproft organization that allows you to donate your car and receive a tax deduction in return. You may have heard their notoriously catchy jingle on the radio. Their business model is quite simple. You fill out a donation form on their website and arrange for your vehicle to be picked up within 24 hours. They accept all kinds of motor vehicles, including motorcycles, boats, and RV's, in any kind of condition. Once they have picked up your car, they will evaluate it's worth and give you you a 100% tax deduction receipt for the value of the donation as well as a voucher for a free stay in a hotel. The money they make from recycling these vehicles go to another nonprofit organization, Oorah, an Orthodox Jewish organization that works to foster learning and personal growth in Jewish families. While the tax deduction is nice, the Oorah organization that profits from your donation is a bit dubious. It would be more accurate to call this charity "Kars 4 Jewish Kids", but that doesn't make for as catchy of a jingle. Overall, I think Kar4Kids is a good charity to look into if you are only looking to donate your car for a tax deduction. If you are looking for a legitimate charity that benefits a good cause, however, I think there are much better ones out there that deserve your hard earned money even more. That is not to say that the promotion of Jewish culture is not important in its own right. It just doesn't seem as important as providing homeless children with food, clothing, and shelter or researching therapies for debilitating diseases.
